E-Commerce is doing well

Do you remember the article “‘Tis the Season to be Ready” posted before the 2009 holiday season? I had suggested that we were going to experience strong online sales during the 2009 holiday season. I am so happy to find out that I was not wrong.

It gives details of the sales figures for the important days during the holiday season, such as Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. All look good. It is promising to see that consumers have shopped online more on Black Friday and have used the internet for comparison shopping and downloading coupons. It seems like consumers have improved their skills in finding better deals on the web during the downturn of the economy. It is also interesting to find out that the major snow storm we had in the East had contributed to online holiday sales. While I was freezing when shoveling out side for hours, it did not occur to me that people were shopping online in their warm homes.

I really believe that online retail will continue to grow and small businesses can get the most out of this. If you haven’t done so, you should start to sell your products and services online. If you are already in the game, there is plenty of room to grow your online business. You should make sure that the online outlet you use, whether an online store, a blog or an auction site, provides what your customers are looking for in terms of quality of products, detail of content, ease of use and overall shopping experience from first visit to the delivery of your products.
